I was pretty intrigued when I first came across the Los Angeles based beauty company called Void.
Apparently, their products are VOID (free) of 5 harmful chemicals: Formaldehyde, DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor.
Turns out, some of these chemicals (Formaldehyde, DBP and Toluene) affect the central nervous system, cause birth defects and are carcinogenic.
To add more brownie points, their products are “eco-perfected, cruelty-free and Vegan friendly” with the motto, “Beauty doesn’t have to be toxic”.
I completely with them as I am all for natural stuff or use a minimum of products that don’t have an easily accessible or convenient natural alternative.
I will be reviewing 4 hues from their current collection and will later do a post on their Fall/Holiday release as well.
To start with, I like nail lacquers and have quite a collection of them. When I received the box, I had used most of the colours before. But I really liked their gorgeous shades (even for the more common ones)and their consistency, which had the perfect balance (not to light, not too thick), and a quick drying formula. The packaging is elegant and the bottles look great. The pigmentation is great, the end result is a high-shine, vibrant colour that is consistent and has a reasonable staying power.
The only negatives I can come up with are the fact that even though they are using eco-friendly and non harmful chemicals, an actual list of ingredients is missing (this might be a huge turn off for the more discerning). Furthermore, they tend to be a bit difficult to remove even though I used a strong formula that,s meant for gel paints and acrylic nails. If you are using a base coat, make sure it does not prove counterproductive to the main purpose of the eco-friendly, healthy alternative that VOID is offering.
This particular muddy, blood-red is perfect with ash, gray and of course, LBDs 🙂 while the vibrant summery colours look best with light-coloured clothing or nude shades.
Price: $18 for a 15 ml bottle.
Disclaimer: I have received all the products (at no charge) to review and all opinions are 100% mine.
